A.PARAMETER IS "A LINE OR QUANTITY.SERVING TO DET ERMINE ONE POINT, LINE,.FIGURE, OR QUA NTITY OUT OF A CLASS OF.SUCH THINGS". WITH TELECOMMUNICATION WE.ARE TAKING A "QUANTITY SERVING" TO.DETERMINE "ONE POINT" OR "FIGURE". IF.EACH COMPUTER UNDERSTANDS THE "QUANTITY.SERVING" TH EN COMMUNICATION IS.SUCCESSFUL. IN ORDER FOR EACH COMPUTER.TO UNDERSTAND THE "QUANTITY SERVING" IT.MUST BE SET U P TO SEND AND RECEIVE.CERTAIN CODING . LET'S EXAMINE.EACH PARAMETER ONE AT A TIME.. BAUD RATE IS FAIRLY SIMPLE SINCE IT.ONLY DEALS WIT H THE RATE OF SPEED THAT.DATA IS SENT. WHEN YOU ARE USING 300.BAUD IT MEANS THAT THE DATA IS BEING.SENT AT 300 BI TS PER SECOND. AT 1200.BAUD IT IS SENT AT 1200 BITS PER.SECOND.. DUPLE X DEALS WITH THE DIFFERENT MODES.OF "H ANDSHAKING" BETWEEN COMPUTERS..HANDSH AKING IS THE PROCESS OF SENDING.DATA AND WAITING FOR THE RECEIVING.COMPUT ER TO ACKNOWLEDGE ITS ARRIVAL..THE TW O MODES OF DUPLEX ARE HALF AND.FULL. WITH HALF DUPLEX THE RECEIVING.COMPUT ER ONLY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT IT HAS.RECEIV ED DATA. WITH FULL DUPLEX THE.RECEIV ING COMPUTER SENDS BACK EACH BYTE.IT RE CEIVES TO BE VERIFIED BY THE.SENDER . SOME COMPUTERS SEND.ALONG AN EXTRA BIT WITH EACH BYTE.CALLED THE PARITY BIT. THIS ASS URES.THAT EACH BYTE SENT IS COMPLETE. IF THE.TOTAL OF ALL THE ON BITS IS AN EVEN.NUMBER THEN IT IS KNOWN AS ODD PAR ITY..IF THE TOTAL OF ALL THE ON BITS IS AN.ODD NUMBER THEN IT IS EVEN PARITY. IF.THE PARITY BIT IS NOT USED THEN IT IS.KNOWN AS NO PARITY.. WORD LENGTH IS FAIRLY SIMPLE AS IT IS.JUST THE NUMBER OF BITS PER BYTE.. STOP BITS, WHICH AR E ALSO KNOWN AS.NULLBITS, ARE REQ UIRED BY SOME.COMPUTERS. THESE ARE USED TO CONFIRM.THE ENDING OF EACH BY TE..
